We are a self-help, social support group. In the past we have been volunteers at El Centro Hispano in Durham (www.elcentronc.org) programs like Hermanos de Luna y Sol: an HIV prevention program, and entre amig@s a social group.
We have also made researches in the the community providing brochures of STDs, HIV and AIDs and also information chats about them to the public in general.
Now we are working in collaboration with other organizations in Wake County and El Centro Hispano to stop the spread of STDS, HIV and AIDS with the main goal of begin a more healthy and happy living while avoiding bad habbits.
We are very motivated people who want to share some of the knowledge we already adquire. Socializing, making new friends and working in many activities. The idea of creating a group like this was to have fun, entertain and have a good time; meanwhile, we could learn more about what 's going on around us, providing information of resourses to those who need it; and also develop some skills experimenting with thing that we already have or is provided to us.
Our idea of this organization is to help in the unification of groups and cultures as we change points of view looking outside in on a respectful manner, creating a place where people can express their worries, goals, interests or concerns, getting motivation from one another in order to reach the potential in a sane and peaceful environment.
